Help me get my ROAR back!!
« on: 22 May 2008, 23:32:01 »

Hey all, i recently bought a 2.5 V6 Omega and as everyone knows or shud know V6 sounds mint!!! I threw an induction cone in to give it that extra ROAR but as alot of people know Opel and Induction do not mix well and long story short my airflow censor started acting up!!

So out came the cone and now theres no throaty grunt wen i plant the shoe!!! Can anyone recommend a way to get this roar i so need without affecting my performance!!! Thanks

I suggest that the V6 inlet system is already optimised to maximise engine power throughout the RPM band. To interfere with the induction is probibly not a good idea since other attempts by other forum members were unsuccessful and actually resulted in a loss of performance.

I plan to fit a K&N air filter this month which maximise air flow to the engine but that is the extent to which improvement seems practical. :y

I am very curious to see what responses you get from the more knowledgable OOF members to this topic ;)

Put it all back to original !!!

The airbox is plenty big enough and does NOT restrict the flow at all.

There is no performance increase in changing the system.

In fact, sticking cone filters/K&N filters etc etc  can actually lead to a LOSS of power, as you are now sucking warm air in instead of the cold air as designed.

If this is what you want for a few micro-decibels of noise ... fine .. but the Omega is a smooth, luxury vehicle .. NOT a chav-mobile..

Leave things as designed .. :)

get an unoiled panel filter and use standard system drill the airbox at the bottom front and wing side that will get you v6 noise with no hot air escaping in!

thats what i have done to my mig until the noise started annoying me!!

No offence mate, but most here would rather have reduced noise, not more. Cheap crappy after market exhausts and cats have generated loads of complaints from us abouts noise. Drives you mad after not very long at all. It sounds to me like you've got the original setup so my advice is look after it and don't mess with it. There's nothing cool about a chaved up Mig (or a chaved up Corsa for that matter)

IMO people who consider anyone who drives a loud car to be chav is a seriously narrow minded individual who has to learn how to have their own opinion and not have there life led by the media. in other words get a life!  :y

Have you ever heard the saying "if its to loud your too old"?   ::)

My omega is as loud as all hell! (im not a "chav" just not a OAP either!) the previous owner has completely removed the bottom part of the airbox and cable tied / taped the filter on, never caused me any problems and makes changing the filter really easy lol.

On idle and light throttle there isnt much diffrence, but when the pedal hits the floor it roars like a beast!

And yes i am more than aware that it will suck in warm air when the car is standing still, but how often do you need full power from a standstill? it will lose some low end torque but gain some high end horses, which suits my driving style.

Mmm so if we don't agree with YOU we are narrow minded, unable to have our own opinion, lead by the media and don't have a life ????

Methinks you need to rethink where you stand. EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion... just 'cos we don't like yours, or you don't like ours, doesn't make either more valid.

However, comments like yours have certainly given me an insight to your attitude.

I don't see anywhere in the above quote which mentions opinions, you are telling someone "facts" which are untrue.

The loudest cars i have ever heard have all been motor sport cars, from your "FACTS" that a loud car is a "chav mobile", so in effect your saying that everyone in motor sport is a chav?

Also further to your FACTS above, unlike yourself im not a part of the R&D team for Vauxhall (although i am involved in R&D for motor sport) but i find it almost impossible to believe that any car manufacturer would design their standard air box (which covers multiple engines) for performance and forget about economy. which in my book, suggests your FACTS above are untrue.

And to answer your question, yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but i do not feel people should be allowed to portray lies as facts to uneducated fellow owner's club members  :y

My opinion is that every car should be built for performance and they should all be as loud as 747's! (although living next to a motorway wouldn't be much fun lol).

Can you show me where i pushed this opinion on other people? unlike your earlier post, i was providing advice based on facts and experiences.  not once did i push my opinion of whats best (unlike yourself).
