Thanks for the interest and support for my missfire snag.
The sticky injector suggestion hit a cord, I used to use the car for a bit of Taxi work and following the LPG conversion I religiously ran a tank of petrol through each month because I had read somewhere that this would keep the "normal" systems happy. For the last two years I have not done that - yesterday I got some injector cleaner, put the whole lot in a 1/4 tank and took the car for a good blow out.
This morning from cold it was a bit better ,running smoothly after about a minute on petrol.
I was able to take it to Gas and Go, Swindon, who did the LPG conversion, they checked the codes and it still identified the No 3 Pot missfire - to be expected, this was cleared.
the mechanic though had a good listen (I'm fairly deaf these days) and he found that the small breather hose had a split in it , in fact on replacement, it was totally shot.
So I'll look forward to tomorrow morning and see haw things go then - finger crossed.
