Remove the oil filter cap, then the oil filter element and then i think it was a large allen key :-/ found inside which you remove and the main housing comes away.
I had to do this on mine to remove the same pipes ;)

Yes, it does look like an alan key fitting, in the centre.
Don't suppose anyone knows (or can look up) the correct size? Unfortunately I don't seem to have one that fits :(

i got an allen key of yours James....left on top of the battery of the gls. thought i'd move it rather than get unwanted shorting!!

not sure of the size, but i don't think it's bigger than a 10mm  :-/

Vectra Elite Estate doing good post-Omega service but still not as nice to sit in.

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

Jeez! Attempting my cambelt tomorrow weather permitting. The other day I tightened up the bolt inside the oil filter housing holding it to the block, 27 mil socket is the way.

I had to do this because last time I changed the oil the housing spun with the lid (there is a square insert in the lid but there's also a fitting for a 24mil socket which is better). I refilled the oil and bought a metal band-type oil filter wrench. This goes round the housing and braces against the bell housing, gripping the filter housing while you undo the lid, worked a treat.

Was going to suggest same(metal band oil filter wrench) to undo the housing, if it will in big enough?
Are crows feet, or flare nut spanners any good for removing the oil pipes, without removing the filter housing? Must admit i just bent the oil pipes out of the way to do the oil cooler in the end. Could not get the oil pipes off by the filter as did not have the housing off or flair nut/crows feet spanners for the pipes.
