well I am glad I posted my question. After all the advice given I replaced the crank sensor with a genuine vauxhall part (just to be on the safe side!). You can imagine how I felt when I turned it over and it started first turn!!!! Since then it has been running like a dream. So a big thanks to all you experts.

There are a lot of peeps on this site that Know every nut and bolt on the Omega forwards, backwards and inside out, if you need help this site is the place

most important thing is your car is fixed, and your here, not at a dealer, who would undoubtedly have fleeced you and claimed the car needs a new ecu to cover the fact they didnt know how to use tech 2 to diagnose the problem. If they dont know on here, then nobody does. You did the right thing mate, welcome to oof. :-)
