took me and TB about an hour and a half to change the pump on a td!!! access is not the best!!! prob better to do it when you have the inlet off for the glowplugs to be honest as then you can at least get to the top bolts, i think we ended up removing or loosening at least the alternator to!!! :y

Omegatoy and I had to remove alternator on Mrs Omegatoy's estate, which means inlet off.

Its all an easy job, just a bit time consuming.

You can get to all 4 bolts that mount it from underneath, but trying to remember why we had to remove alternator.  I think it was because the pump wouldn't drop out the bottom, and had to lift out top...

I call an easy job one that is not time consuming.

From what I saw I'd well believe that it won't drop out the bottom opps.
It's getting to the stage that the backstreet boys only want to change oil and pads for 100, Nothing awkward please.

Does this mean you got the manifold off & on in the 1 1/2 hr as well.

I think I wasted 2 hrs not getting the manifold off. Or does it vary from car to car. It looked like I would have to drop the engine a bit.

And does anyone actually buy new gaskets???? ::)

Yes I used Dex 3. But only to top up after pump Died. It says D3 in my owners handbook. What should it be. Will it kill the box as well?

Do I need to drain it all & replace with D2.?

inlet manifold comes off in 10 mins, 12 nuts hold it to head, 2 retaining bolts to bracket from oil filter, 2 bolts for egr pipe, 1 jubilee clip to black turbo diesel plastics (which itself needs to come off (2 bolts, 2 jubilees.

It wasn't DIII per se, it was the particular variant that Vx started using at the time damaged some seals or something like that.

To be on the safe side though, I'd use DII

It was originally DIII, but then Vx changed the DIII that they sold, and the new DIII stuff was causing issues, so they reverted to DII for the PAS.

I had used Comma Dex111.

I,ll time myself & report how long it take to get the manifold off.

Last time I gave up, Couldn't get it off the studs at the back.
