Nope, chip came with the car in an envelope last year when I purchased it second hand. Previous owner was going to fit but then heard all about the AR25 woes. As I've just completed the AR35 upgrade this is next on my list. :)

I hope you have an AR35 gearbox otherwise if you chip the car, it will shred the standard AR25 very quickly

4 different, incompatible ecus.

So 1 in 4 chance.

The label on that chip you have means diddly.

Personally, I'd be sending a 'PM' to Omegatoy or TheBoy with this information in the first instance.

The quoted rating of 170 BHP seems a little high, as this engine was rated at 143 BHP in the BMW 325/525, with the later cars rated at 163 BHP, but this latter unit has the 'common rail' injection system. The chips as supplied to OOF tractor-owners (cost around 70 quid), are 'Plus 5' so it's fair to assume a revised engine output of 148 BHP - which adequately transforms the 2.5TD Omega.

It's your choice, though I'd be inclined to shell out 70 bucks, and know what I'm getting!

I know that the Ebizzle is the worst place for Aftermarket parts when it comes to Skylines so I take it the same rings true for Vauxhalls etc?

Have these chips from Lithuania really got a bad name? Any feedback from anyone with one of these chips?

I can't afford to shell out on rebuilding another engine so I may just file this chip in the B1N.

Ask yourself this...

Just what has a two bob eastern eurpean country ever achieved (apart from exporting it's crap here)?

When you've answered that, you'll know what your chip is worth.

Next question is wrt 'ESD wrist straps'.

Most of the ones I have seen use a croc clip for clipping to any grounded source. So does that include pipework etc which is earthed around the house?

Or something with a metal case that is earthed when plugged into an electrical socket (kettle, toaster).

In the weather we have been having down here recently the chances of creating a big enough static charge to damage anything are pretty much zero.

Touch something metal to discharge yourself before you start, don't fidget and there is very little chance of any problem.

If I was you I would just whack it in and give it a shot. The first chip I got from Terry was the wrong one - when I put it in the ECU the car was idling at 2500rpm!

Got hold of a new on and shoved it in - worked a treat.  :y

What the chuff is a "ESD wrist strap" anyway?  :-/
