If you have a car pass you can order a new key (with transponder but no remote) from a main dealer for not too much (about 30 quid IIRC). Just tell them you don't need it coding to the car. Or get it cut, as said. The remote and immobiiser chip can be removed to avoid damage although I can't see how a ket cutter would damage the electronics.
Remotes - there are at east 3 different types which are not compatibe with each other. They can be got 2nd hand on Ebay if you're careful to get the right type but, again, not too costly new from a dealer (40 odd quid IIRC). See if you can read the information on the back of the fob. Often it rubs off and becomes illegible. Better stil, post a picture of the circuit board inside.
Pairing these items with the car we can do with a Tech 2 for a lot less than £46.
