there is no drain on the autobox, only i fill/level hole. So as Pete says you have to remove both large sump(one with the level hole) and small sump (forward of large sump) to remove the max posible amount of atf, as TB says its not possible to remove all the atf as some is held in the torque converter, box off to remove that.
Filter can be cleaned simply by washing it out with parafin or similar oil based cleaner. The filter material is like scotch pad oven cleaner type material, but alot less dense, its only there to catch large pieces, the magnet will catch finer particals in the sump. This is also backed up by Mark dtm replys i've seen i'm fairly sure. As is the advice re instant gaskit, although i do prefer to use gaskits personally, just saves a few quid if you already habe the correct instant goo. So in theory it possible to do the job with just 6-7 liters of atf. My local auto box man did the job on his ramp for £60 oil supplied, which saves the mess on the drive and the nasty itchy rash atf can give, it drys out your skin after long exposure.
