More electrodes, 4 lesser sparks to the centre as opposed to 2 bigger, therefor less ware on the tips no?

AFAIAA (that's the rider  ::)) it don't work like that. You just get one spark between the centre & which ever tip is closest, as they wear away another tip is 'it' until another tip becomes the closest etc etc etc etc. :y
Oh ok, still don't see how quads shield more than twins though, that being the case....?

That is the case. They shield more because the volatile mix will get captured inside the tips. We are talking on a small scale here though ;)

TBH, there's probably very little difference... Just following advice from LPG professionals and users :-/

Neither can I but some people are followers ......  ::) ::) The spark would be visible from the piston crown whether two or four due to where the sparks travels. Having said that, I had quads in my car and when I recently removed one just to have a look, it was noticeably worn despite nothing like 80k on them.

I think that would be the case if multi-electrode plugs had the same tip to electrode positional relationship as an old style single has.  :-/ :-/ :-/

Agreed. I've never noticed any performance difference between any different types of plug. They either ignite the fuel mixture, or they don't and you have a misfire.

4 electrodes will simply just last longer due to more material to get eroded away, hence their use where an 80k service life is specified.

I think that's exactly what the GM ones are. One set I had even had the Bosch name on them.... at a bargain price. :y
