Sorry but its another HBV thread

Changed the stat  and a 100% positive that its not leaking but im loosing coolant if I use the heating. But if I freeze my nuts off and dont use the heater I dont loose anything.... so am I right in thinking its the HBV ???

is it a fast loss or slow? and i dont suppose you can see it leaking from anywhere under the car? back passenger side of engine compartment if it is the HBV

I'd say not - all of the cooling system is under the same pressure all of the time.

the HBV shuts off coolant flow to the heater only when you have both temperatures turned down as low as they'll go AND the aircon is on. But even then, both sides of the HBV are subject to the same coolant pressure, so would leak at the same rate.

So are we saying it could leak with  the heating on or off in the car :-? :-? :-?

a strong possibility its the HBV, have known them to leak like that before. one of mine did the same. ;)

if you can't see it, go looking down the back of the block where the HBV is.

I'm not saving that the HBV isn't leaking, only that the heater setting won't make much difference to the situation.

Thanks mate, Just wandering if I got a cheap one to see me through till payday would confirm my nagging feelings as what it is
