Inactive Members.
« on: 15 January 2008, 21:33:07 »

Looked through the members list from day 1 the other day & noticed how many members logged on months ago but have remained inactive since. I understand not everyone's as talkative & involved as some of us & may need help sometime but maybe 1 post every month (even a newbie welcome) to keep their membership active might sort out the dead wood.
     Just a thought. :-/

It would be great if every member was as involved as the more active of us, (I presumptuously class myself as active), but experience has taught me that people get different things from this sort of activity, and that there is always a high level of 'background' interest and involvement. I don't know what the percentages are, but I bet very little change could be effected, especially as there is no cost involved in remaining 'dormant'.
It's a pity, but a fact of life IMHO.

This is my first post so please excuse any mistakes.  I joined a while ago but haven't felt the need to post until now, although I read the forum every day and enjoy the banter between you and the variety of subjects discussed in General Chat.

I don't drive an Omega but an ex-boyfriend had one and he used this site, which is how I got hooked, and I have to say I've actually learned quite a lot!

What about sending an email to the inactive members and no reply would mean deleting their accounts?

I don't think that you should ever decrease your registered user
base.

You don't know how this site will evolve in the future. A lot of sites
start out like this, and then, because of the specific user base, they
start to attract internet advertising, tailored to the user base.

Ie Insurance, Spare Parts, Custom Parts, Engineering Services, Google
etc..

The higher the registered user base, the more likely the site is to
attract revenue, and the price charged for 'Banner' headlines etc..
increases.

Never give your assets away!   ;)

Many a true word etc......   ;)

Not implying or indeed suggesting anything, however avenues are being discussed and considered by mods at the moment which could easily further expand the facilities available for members, be they active posters or those that simply prefer to look and learn...    :y

Load of sh1te being talked here. If you delete the accounts of 'inactive' members, you'll end up with about 150. People will use the forum when they need to. A lot of people are losing sight of the fact that we are here to help. The general chat section, great as it is, is not the primary function.

Correct.

And there is no intention of 'culling' member accounts whatsoever, be they active or inactive.  Posting does not give a true representation of actual use....

We already have one person answering to this thread who had a previous connection with things Omega and remains an active 'viewer'.  You are most welcome, Jo!!

i agree with you ,we are on here because of the cars we drive , its good to "talk" its better to help but you  cant excommunicate someone if they have nothing to say
