Putting a manual in gear is nothing like putting an auto into Park. If you push hard enough you will still move your manual car whilst in gear (turning your engine over too), whereas you lock the auto with a pin that physically stops the box from turning.

never said it wouldn't. But the analogy with putting a manual into gear doesn't compare. If just pushed, the tyres are likely to skid along the ground before the pin breaks.

I know that an auto doesn't like going into P before you've stopped when you think you're putting your manual into first!  :-? :-? :-? ;D
