TD gone gutless.
« on: 27 June 2011, 13:50:57 »

When pulling away ive got next to no power,Its almost like the accelerator pedal isnt doing anything for half of its travel, once ive got it rolling it doesnt seem too bad, Also when i start it up now the tick over starts off low then corrects itself after approx 15 seconds or so, ive not long done a diesel filter change so it shouldnt be that, so any suggestions please :'(.

Accelerator pedal...not sure on diesel set ups but assuming its the same as petrol ones...has the little clip that holds the accelerator cable in the correct place within the engine bay fallen off?? Had this on an old 2.5v6 and putting it back on correctly so the acceleration was from first contact put it back to normal :y

Ive just done a paperclip test & no codes stored, Ive just taken it for another run & although it seems better with the engine cold it still seems to lack its normal get up & go, so whats the next thing to check?. ;)

No TB I dont have anything like that, & Shackeng do you mean that stainless pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold to the inlet?, if so i done away with that & capped off the ends a while ago, even though the EGR valve is blanked off can it still cause a problem?, when I rev it up in neutral I can hear the hissing from the turbo as the revs drop so can i take it the turbo is o,k?, ive got a spare turbo but looks like it could be a pig to change so dont want to go there unless its neccesary.

EGR blanks can "burn through" if the metal is thin .. did you use a "proper" blank or a home made coke-can one ???  Either way... worth checking the blank is still intact ??

I`ll have a check in the morning although they are made of fairly hefty sheet steel. :y

Hmm recent filter change? did the fault appear shortly after this?
if so i reckon you have a  air leak on the filter, possibly the fuel heater is slightly loose, where you undid the filter? maybe the seal isnt quite right or something like that, possibly the in tank pump has gone down? either way it sounds like the car aint getting enough fuel till its spinning fast enough for the injection pump to suck it through :y

Ive probably done around 700 odd miles since the filter change, I did have a glance at it today & all is dry, As you say im now wondering if the tank pump has got sludged up or something. :-/

Now I am confused :-/, took the car for a run this morning & it ran faultless, Its making me think its a temperature related fault as it was a scorcher yesterday, so is there anything that would be affected by heat ?.
