.....the thing is no-one seems to do that anymore ,everyone seems to wait until a couple of seconds after they can see your car before they dip their lights . ....

and they go back to full beam just before you've passed each other too!  >:(

they were probably all driving pre-facelift omegas with crap lights and couldn't see sh*t like me  ;D ;D ;D
Or like me you have an over excited HID with a duff motor and they flash you b/c they think your mains are still on.  :-[

The latest chav fashion is ONE headlamp - there are a lot around now and I have only hit one so far >:(

Saw a chav last night with sidelights and fog lights - dazzling - if it wasn't for the car in front of me it would have had full beam

Was anyone taught to put main beam ON when someone behind wanted to overtake?

How many times have you caught someone up and toyed with overtaking but the car in front goes TO dip!!

varche

I was not taught this - learnt in 1992 - but subsequently read it somewhere.  I always just this now.  Generally, I will already have main beam on - if somebody overtakes, I wait until they are slightly ahead of me prior to reverting to dipped beam.  The theory is that they will (or should) not have main beam on and because you have, they will be able to better see the road ahead.

Slightly off topic, but the number of vehicles that are driving around with badly adjusted headlamps is rather high.

Front fog lights/driving lights are my pet hate why do people insist on having them on  >:(  My Pajero has 6 x 130watt lights on the front all on main beam most people dip soon after a flash from them  8-) not road legal I know but  ;)

Pet driving hate - when they park on your side of the road with headlights on - many times I've wondered if I'm gonna thump a passenger door as I pass cos I can't see if its open. Don't they realise if they switch to sidelights you can still see them?  >:(
