I don't get it,
one minute the oldies tell us 'those were the good ol' days', then in the same convo they tell us 'you youngsters have never had it so good'  ;D

If you're missing the 'retro' sweets then i can recommend HANDY CANDY

Bananas, shrimps, mushrooms, fangs, fizzy cola bottles fried eggs and milk bottles are all in there

The slugs and snails sweet hamper is very nice  :y

Watching "Marine boy" No one else seems to remember it but it's on youtube (i found it!!) on a big old black & white telly eating marmite sarnies & drinking gold top milk.
Unsliced bread & the huge crust with lumpy jam was a treat.
Table manners, unheard of nowadays, ask to be passed salt etc. NEVER reach out for it, no elbows on the table, don't start your food until an adult has started theirs, leave your knife & fork tidily on your plate & ask if you can get down from the table.
General manners, please thankyou holding doors open etc. Respect for your elders & betters. It's not cruel it's basic upbringing.
Oh, being allowed a pen or sheath knife & although we all fought we never thought to use them for that. Fat lips, chipped teeth, ripped jumpers but you were mates again next day!!! :y

I continue to read this thread with much nostalgia, however I seem to remember a recent Poll that suggested a younger average oofer. :)
Was everyone telling fibs, and cought out by nostalgia? :)

Have you said to your kids a phrase your Dad said to you, that you pledged you would never say? 'When I was a Lad' 'When I was your age' :)
Thing is I have 3 step sons 15 to 23 and at 15 or 16 there ability to look after themselves is / was nil. Cant cook, cant make a hot drink etc, swmbo too soft on them, but can you tell her............. :o

Sunday night at the London Palladium.
Jamboree bags
Black jacks/fruit salad 4 for a halfpenny
Sunday roasts and for tea either pilchards or sardines on toast
Radio northsea
Radio Caroline
Trying to tune a radio into Radio Luxemburg to listen to the pop music the beeb wouldn't play.

Yeah..60's were great fashion, music and style explosion.

Not to forget mods and rockers down on bank holidays creating havoc.
