ANother money problem
« on: 04 March 2008, 11:30:54 »

Just found that halifax STOLE £160 from a childrens savings account to pay a credit card when I asked for the card to be put on stop while I sorted the loan. >:(

The account is in the name of my daughter

That is more accounts to take off them >:(

So Saturday we set up 3 childrens accounts else where!

Yeah, I'd really raise a stink with something like that.

I think trustee name too!

We took our mortgage off them two years ago, still have a Credit Card which they have closed, three children accounts we are moving, and my current account goes VERY soon.

is you kids account in any way shape or form linked to the credit card account, if it is then this in not actually illeagle but may be unlawful if not totally unethical, check out consumer action group on the web www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/, its a consumer based forum similar to OOF, they will give you good advice, at the end of the day is not you daughters debt  its the card holders, go see them in the branch, EXPLAIN to them nicely that is the money is not place back into the acount you will see the police as this in your eyes is theft, then threaten them with the trading standards and threaten to report them to the oft and then mention that your local rag may also be interested in this story in this current climate of penalty charge reclaims n the such and more bad press would not do them favors, i shouldnt be suprised if they put the money back within 24 hours ;)

I would threaten to make this VERY public if it's not resolved. Knowledge that they go raiding kids' savings would do wonders for their reputation.

write a strong letter of complaint to customer services any way, tell them you are going to inform the oft of their behavior and hand a photocopy of both letters to the branch manager in person, let them know their conduct has been unacceptable and they are going to have to explain their actions to the office of fair trading, if you need addresses i can supply them :y
