Got hold of a second hand AR35 and changed the bell housing. As I did, I noticed the replacement box had no thrust bearing ring just grooves where it used to be. I have put the thrust bearing and first section of the transmission gear from my old box into the replacement box. The question - is the transmission gear the same in the AR25 ast the AR35. they appeared to be identical. Any gearbox specialists out there?

AFAIK the two gearboxes are identical on the outside, it's the internals that are stronger/different shift solenoids etc that differ between the two 'boxes, i've had them stood next to eachother ages back now and there were no noticable differences

Good news, changing 4th gear did not create a problem and the thrust bearing is working. It appears some of the bits are interchangeable.http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/smf2000/Smileys/oofstd/thumbsup.gif
