My father passed away peacefully on the 30th November. He is now buried in the grounds of an idyllic 12th century Norman church overlooking the magnificent welsh countryside. I think he would have approved.
This has been a turbulent and emotionally charged time for us all. Anyone who has lost someone close to them will understand how I (we) family Opti feel.
I arranged Dad's funeral even though I live nearly two hundred miles away. I was happy to do so.
As mentioned in a previous post, both my elderly parents had trusted what little money they had to an AXA Sunlife Over 50 plan. This was to cover any funeral expenses. I now have full access to all monies paid in and paid out. It makes sobering reading.
My father paid in £12 a month from May 1990 to November 2011......The exact total being £3108 over a 21 year period. The policy will only contribute £1186 to his funeral costs.....(38% of the total premiums paid in)

I have written to AXA Sunlife demanding that they explain why the return (negative return) is so poor. I need to do this, and receive a reply, before I take my concerns to the FSA.........who hopefully will put an end to these scams that dupe the elderly out of their savings.
