i've spent 10 years managing a forum of over 90'000 members. (
www.soundonsound.com/forum ) I "retired" from Moderator status at new year, this year, having already spent stepped down as an admin a year or so earlier when health problems proper floored me.
these things are cyclic, general discussion is pottering along.... although some people do like to take the fun out of it.
some people could learn to better interpret things on the printed page that might be more obvious in person.... body language, facial expression, tone of voice , eye twinkles.... etc... all make saying something a bit risque or Tongue in cheek , a survivable experience in the real world, but without all those contextual clues , saying the same thing in just text on a page can easily start a needless fight, unless the other party can read those cues in between the lines...
other people could learn to shut the hell up, know when to walk away, and when to , if not apologise, then at least back down....
and a number of people could do with a humor upgrade.,
despite all that, this is still a damn nice place to hang out....
Ljay, if you want to know what bully boy mods are really like.... you should try some of the places i have to inhabit for work purposes... Daz is a great big softie in comparison..... by anyone's standards... hell, such things might even be said to be the root of OOF's existence.... am i the only person to remember what it was like before OOF

? when we were on assorted other Vx forums/???
i'll grant you he's not perfect, but no one is....
furthermore, being a Moderator does NOT mean one is not entitled to an opinion, or a sense of humor, or feelings.... they are still human, still members, and can still wear Pink crocs if they so choose. .
which is entirely what you've recently being implying is not the case, and that Moderator status carries with it some vow of chastity and vulcan like control of one's mental state.... .....
Moderators are members too.,,... they simply help with the housekeeping.
or at least that's my view....
