Omega General Help / 2.5 V6 thrown spark plug out!?
« on: 03 September 2012, 15:33:11 »
Hi all,

Omega threw a spark plug out of a middle cylinder today, screwed it back in with the AA, then popped back out again.

The spark plug in there had actually lost its middle section with the contacts? Slightly concerning!!!

Has anyone experienced this? Taken it to a garage which apparently is going to fit a heli coil?

Thanks
Rob

realistically you need to remove each item, i.e hoses rad heater matrix, header tank and flush them through individually otherwise it'll take you years to get it all out and as the engine heats it'll keep bringing more upto the header tank then not cool the car correctly!

keep an eye on the temperature, I had a leak where a plastic clip had worn down the alloy pipe next to the low pressure port.

I bought an elec thermometer to keep an eye on temp

If the gas was completely empty it must have come out of somewhere....

These ac systems can only test for leaks in half of the system, only way to really tell is uv dye and a uv light in the refrigerant..

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / cutting out on cd changer?
« on: 23 June 2012, 08:22:59 »
Hi All,

Some reason when I flick to cd changer on my ccr600/blaupunkt cd changer and crank the volume up it cuts out? Momentarily then I turn it down and it works OK.

This is different to the radio as I can literally turn it up full blast with no issues?

Any bright ideas?

I thought it might be a dieing speaker but as its OK on the radio im not so sure?

Cheers
Rob

Omega General Help / Re: Power Sounder????

just used a chisel and split the power sounder apart.

Looks like it was about to blow!!!! Almost had no Omega!

isopropryl alcohol on the ecu plug, maplin do a spray can.

Does sound like fuel system though, it starts with damp start as it's letting fuel into the chambers to ignite.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming on 2nd position on key turn?

Start from the petrol tank and work your way forwards.

Cushty,

I've removed the whole thing, power sounder and horn, I locked car with window down and all I have is flashy lights now...

I had a note through the door stating "there would be a riot in the village if the alarm goes off again"

I sleep right through it to be honest!!

Powersounder needs doing but ive read a bit about the bonnet switch also??

Shall I disconnect that also?

Doesn't seem like a powersounder issue as its a full on alarm going off rather than a chirp

Omega General Help / Power Sounder????
« on: 14 June 2012, 18:59:29 »
Just a quick one, been looking through a load of posts so thought i'd ask also...

Neighbours are getting really annoyed with the omega alarm going off between 4 &6am every morning....

It's a full blown alarm going off horn everything, could this be the power sounder or something different??

Thanks
Rob

General Car Chat / Re: 5 Series BMW
« on: 23 April 2012, 19:29:57 »
I'd definitely have a BMW over the omega, i've had plenty of both and just find as you say it's a cut above, if you like working on the engine yourself it might not be the best of cars to buy but once you've got your head round it im sure its not too bad...

careful on the bolts as you remove as my friend sheared his so we had a blow torch on it with some mole grips for about 2hours trying to get the bolt out.

Looks the same as the 1.8zafira I did, 10min job

Omega General Help / Climate Control Issue ?
« on: 23 April 2012, 19:19:08 »
Hi All,

I have an issue with the climate control on passenger side...

Before you ask i've followed this...
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1196616207

However, mine was all connected including the arm etc, i've removed the motor and got a new one from the scrappies but fitted it and when I do the climate control reset procedure I can get the arm to reset to the normal position but when I modulate the temperature on the climate control unit the motor buzzes a bit and doesn't move, if I run the motor by itself I can see it spin 2-3rotations and stop. The gear mechanism/arm module is completely free moving and little resistance but both the motor fitted to the car originally and the one from scrappies just seems to buzz a bit without moving the arm...

Any ideas? Unless i've managed to pick up a naff motor from the scrappies also?

Help mucho appreciado!
