I know of a shop that (where my mum lives) was refused a renewal on its licence to serve food (butty shop). Within 1 month a polish couple (very nice actually) came and took over the shop and turned it into a cafe. Licence no problem. We are being turned into the minority!

So knowing police officers break the law a bit in their own time , i would jst prefer the points, without the lecture. It aint the punishment really that would break me off , it would be the lecture on how to drive , when its plain to seein their ownm time they NEVER stick to 30/60/70 etc

I was arrested once on suspision of petrol theft (my numberplate had been cloned) and in the car the officeer waited until the camera had gone past and floored it to 70 ina 60 zone. I challeneged him and was told in an angry face "be quiet"

Double Standards!

They wouldn't be able to catch anyone doing 30/60/70 etc  ;D ;D ;D

the old bill and all our councils are not accountable !
there are two laws one for us one for them !

pay your council tax or your knicked ! but they can waste f-cking thousands digging up roads and not do f-ck all for 3 months !
but its our money! and we all stand for it!

and the old bill!

and what the f-ck is a carbon footprint? more b-llocks >:(

See what i mean ?!?!

We are totally ripped off and its the police that breed hatred towards the police. Its the councils that bred racism by favouring immigrants. I could go on!

No doubt that it was because I was doing 80 instead of 70 that they chose to follow me but I still think its a pretty intimidating tactic to see if youll then further break the limit. As an afternote, whilst the mig was off the road having the oil cooler fixed recently I borrowed the wifes toyota emina bus. Same stretch of road, in the right hand lane coming up to the roundabout to turn right and sticking religiously to 70(!!). Anyhow this car comes roaring up behind me and starts flashing me. Not wanting to be caught again (a tad unlikely in the bus i admit), I continue at 70. If hes in that much of a hurry then there was plenty of room/time to undertake me before the roundabout as there is no other traffic about. Anyway, he flashes me again and I check to see if there are any warning lights on etc, nope, and its only when he flashes me for the third time that he puts his blue lights on . Great, unmarked car, he must be on a shout I think as I change lanes to let him past. Just as I pull back into the right lane to be in the right lane to turn at the roundabout this vectra comes storming up to me, undertaking me ,then turning right down the same single carriageway. Must be another cop car I think. About 1/4 mile down the single carriageway there is the vectra pulled over by the unmarked traffic car!Go figure! :-/.

Re-read the highway code.  Something like return to the left lane after overtaking.  You say that there was ample space for the police to undertake.  Ergo, ample space for you to get into the correct lane to proceede sfaley...
Sorry, one of my pet hates.  Lane hoggers in the wrong lane wanting to run right on the roundabout at the end of a dual several lightyears ahead of them.....

My pet hate is coppers who break the law just like the rest of us from time to tim but sit there on their high horse with the safety spiel. Its so pathetic its laughable. I personally know of a copper who drives like an absolute idiot in his own car but as soon as he puts his uniform on and gets in the plod car he is the safest, hardest, upstanding copper in the world.

I dont get angry with coppers anymore , i just laugh at em.
i got pulled over last year for dricing too slow. I was doing 26mph as it was a bit foggy and the roads were like glass. Copper gets out and says hes going to do me for driving too slowlt. I nearyl choked with laughter. In the end he got his hair off and told me to move on.

I just laughed and pulled away.

I think part of the training in police camp must be how to pretend your a saint!

Coppers , i wouldnt piss on one if he was on fire!!

Im using Windows 7 as my maino perating system as a beta. Runs perfectly fine. IE8 is better than 7 , much faster and has a compatibility mode to make websites run in the same way they would under IE7

Hmmm...

None of those qualifications will get to a 'decent job', but decent well known vendor qualifications - MCSE (Microsft), CCNA (Cisco), CCA (Citrix) etc will help in paper sift part.

In my previous role, when I used to run a small team, I had to recruit people (after HR had done the paper sift). Personally, I paid absolutely no attention to the qualifications, but asked technical questions, and was interested in experience.

To be honest, anyone can pass MCSE or CCA (and CCNA doesn't look too hard, but as I've never taken the actual exam won't comment).

I know of many people who got their MCSE, hoping to earn £40k+, stuck in 'helpdesk' type £16k roles. So the qualifications are not a road to riches.  Admittedly most of them are not that good technically, but I know of some really talented people unable to get the better paid jobs due to lack of proven server experience.

Saying that, we had a guy on a trial who had done years at PC World. His (lack of) ability/understanding confirmed what we always thought about the people PC World type places employ ;D

Looking at the qualifications you have specified, I am not sure what sort of job you are ultimately aiming for.

I've done a fair few years in midrange server management.  There are too many people for too few jobs, and unless you really stand out, and are exceptional, you probably will not achieve your goal.  A great deal of luck will be needed along the way to get the opportunities to be able to get proven experience.

I do not mean to sound negative, but you need to be exceptional, and lucky, to get on in the industry now.

I didnt realise the industry was that cut throat.

Ultimately i would like to get into server management.

I am looking at spending quite a bit of money on training and doing without luxuries to succeed so cant afford for it not to work out.

Im a bit disheartened now and dont really know what to do for the best.

Hello,

I am in the process of doing some IT training and need some advice.

I am going to do the following :

A+
N+
MCDST
MCSA
MCSE

In that order.

Would that be the logical way to do it and more importantly would i get a decent job with those qualifications?

I do have lots of experience in building, softwaring, repairing computers but not in networking.

Cheers
