Well you certainly want to be getting some other quotes...... :y

Putting the boiler in the loft is something I keep meaning to explore, we have a fire and back boiler in the lounge and I really would like to put in an open fire or stove, but gas only goes to this point and concrete floors in the back half and to far to head for the garage - gas and water pipes..... ::) ::) ::)

Good old British Gas. Chances are the boiler would be an easy fix, they just get a kick back out of selling overpriced boiler changes. £4k! Got to be double the going rate, surely? I'd get someone round you can trust for a 2nd opinion.

You can buy boilers here for a similar price Cem, but it's the fitting that costs!!! Having said that I had a boiler replaced last winter for £800 (TRY 2300? :-\)

So, let's say £1k for the boiler. Flushing the system and a like for like replacement can't take more than 2 days for a decent plumber, I'd have thought. If 3K's the going rate for 2 days' work as a plumber I'm in the wrong job here! ;D

That said, my neighbour has been trying to get someone out to change a motorised valve. they've all knocked off for Christmas round here. No ruddy surprised! >:(
