People actually eat semolina :o

Doesn't make it right ::)

I used to love semolina for dessert at school ... :(
Used to eat mine cold, mouded in a cup, upside down on a plate with real Black Current jam  :)

Other thing I used to love as a kid was Cold Ready Brek, and my favourite, Butterscotch Angel Delight, use to make it when I got back from school, would sit bythe fridge waiting for it to harden, which it very rarely did as I was testing a few spoonfuls every 5 seconds.    :y
Strange child you were.

Can't do links on the phone, but Tunnie your advice is wrong, pure and simple.

Granted the charges are unenforceable but it is the responsibility of the registered keeper to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that certain conditions have been met. It is impossible in 99% of cases for the companies concerned to meet those conditions, but since the law change ignoring the notices is not an option.

Google parking charge notice and read all the advice given on the site I suggested...

For an educated person you can be quite daft sometimes :D

Well loads of people from the office must be wrong too  ::) we've all ignored them and get nothing.  ;)

But that doesn't mean you give out wrong advice based on a tiny sample of evidence. The actual rules re: private car parks are exactly as Al described. The car park you mention may not have an interest in pursuing the issued tickets, but your statement re: binning the ticket could potentially get someone else into a lot of trouble.

Just as you say, the speed limit on the M'way is 70, people do 90, but if someone does 90 at your advice and gets caught and loses their licence, then your personal experience of not getting caught so far doesnt mean anything to the person standing in front of a judge.

All depends on the local Authority or the Private Car Parking Enforcement Company, most Councils will chase up in order to get paid, Private some will some wont, the problem arises is if they do go down the route of a Court Order for payment its all a slippery downhill slope from then on.

A few years back had a Private Ticket from a Company in Hull, about 40 quid from memory, ignored it and there follow up letters, 14 months later, Car was clamped outside my house at 6 am in the morning by a Certified Bailiff in Essex, cost me £550 in total.

Can't do clamping or towing away any more sadly, as our management company looked into it recently to enforce visitor parking spaces. As they used to physically stop/take it away, you had to stump up, now they are not allowed and are not enforceable. Renders all private ones pointless.

Council ones still can be enforced by the police, so have to contest them  :)

Not quite true tunnie......i know of a large company here in Swindon.....that clamps its employee's if they park in visitor spaces.....no charge for release.....but they have to wait until security is available to unclamp......(so look at that as an hour or two while they drink tea etc)  ;)

Be good to know how they are allowed to do that. It used to happen around work. If we parked on double yellows ect. But not any more because of the change  :-\

I actually paid one of these today... Got caught at Heathrow Mcdongals a couple of weeks ago...

First time since the law changed in 2012. Apparently I overstayed by 45 minutes ::)

Prior to the law change I had recieved and ignored seven of these charge notices, so I felt that it was only fair to pay this charge, as it averaged out at reasonable value for money... :-\

The law is quite clear. Clamping on private property is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE. Section 54 of Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2012/9/section/54.

Call the police to enforce the law, and/or prevent a breach of peace. Then angle grind the thing off. If you incur conseqential losses, then sue the landowner through the civil courts.

I've now had two pcn's from the council and had them both removed. Should I hire out my services?
If I win your case, you give me a tenner. If you lose, hard luck. Sounds like a winning formula. :y
