I started riding in 1975 on a Puch Maxi! Passed my test in 1977 on a Suzuki GT125. After dozens of bikes I bought a GL1200IH in 1990 which I still own today. There's not many countries in Europe that I haven't been to on the Wing. It is now a part of the family and I can't even imagine parting with it.

I think that I may be the only woman member of OOF to have passed her bike test.
It was 1987 and I passed it on a Suzuki Bloop. Actually the bike was a Suzuki 120cc Student, but they were nicknamed "Bloops" when they were 100cc.

It goes like this B....100...P  which = bloop.

It was a 2 part test when I did it. I failed the 1st part - cones test. But I past the 2 nd part 1st time. I was so excited when I passed that I ripped my L plates off and took Mr Dusty on the back at 60mph.

................Mr Dusty has never been on the back since!! :-* :-* :-*

Passed my bike test on a 125 bantam in 1963, over the years i've owned a 150 bantam, 2 Honda CB200's 1 green 1 red, a Vespa 180ss scooter ( written off by a United Dairies 3 wheeled milk float that decided to turn round in front of me without looking, not hurt though) next was a CZ150 finished up with a Honda CB250N Super Dream which I sold in 1988.

I did my bike test in July 1984 on a Cossack Combo, I still find it hard to believe that it actually stopped eventually on the emergency braking.  Being hard and fast bikers my hubbie and I have only just got a halfway decent car due to his near loss of sight.  In fact he never even drove a car ever.  I dont mind not riding much now coz its not the same as riding out together and obviously I have to drive the car everywhere we go together. 8-) 8-)  I had definately noticed the amount of bikers on this site and I guess its safe to assume that most bikers have keen interest in maintenance of their transport through necessity ;D, It certainly inspires confidence in all the advice on here.

I passed mine in May 2003 on a GS500. Took the Direct Access course so that I was free to ride any capacity bike, still only went out and bought myself a 500cc bike though  :)

1973 - when 17.  I had got an old Honda 175 just to take my test on. It seized the camshaft the night before the test.

So borrowed and used a friends Yamaha 80  for the test. Passed and went straight up to local dealers and brought a secondhand 1970 Triumph Bonneville.

Could not believe the Queue of girls wanting a lift home from the coffee bar that night. Heaven ;D ;D ;D ;D

1985 on a 1981 Honda H100. Then I bought a 1979 Honda CX500 which was a great bike until my mate (a copper training to go into traffic) blew up the engine. After a gap I bought a 1986 Yamaha XJ600 which I owned but hardly used for a few years and now just bought an Yam FJ1200 as a project to keep me busy in the garage this winter.

My Dad used to have some interesting bikes when I was growing up. I used to ride them more than he did. They were classics even then and were all mint:
1. A 1956 Vincent Comet
2. A 1958 Norton Dominator
3. A 1961 Triumph Bonneville 120

The Bonnie was the quickest but vibration was so bad you had to tighten all the bolts up again after each ride to stop bits dropping off and my hands used to go numb. Sorry I'm I digressing........
