When did you past your bike test?
« on: 05 October 2008, 11:46:42 »

I noticed there seems to be alot of bikers here on OOF. So I wondered when did you past your bike tests? And on which bike.

I passed my bike test (at the 2nd attempt) in 1977 on a Yamaha RD250B. This was the model with the immortal words "torque induction" written on its side panels. It was the model before the coffin tank shaped RD250.

I feel sorry for kids today, because back in 1977 my RD had 30BHP (120 per litre)not the nancy boy 12 BHP and 125cc of later years. It was just a 1 part test back then.

Being a 2 stroke it had some money spending characteristics, these included, holed pistons on a regular basis, decokes again on a regular basis (lot better when I put expansion pipes on it) and 2 sets of points that if memory serves, cost about £6 a pair (in 1977) and lasted about 1500 miles............As for amounts of spark plugs used, well I can't count that high. But all in all a great bike for passing my test on all those years ago. :y :y :y

lol only bothered to take my cbt and use a scooter for a while to get to work and back before i got fed up of going to chesterfield on a scooter (once a week for college) also it only took a few months of getting cut up etc and having to give hand gestures to stupid drivers... once had to hold horn button for prolonged time as driver cut me up forcing me to ride alongside him-at this time i'd still continued to hold horn button down and then after a few seconds he turned his head and shrugged it off and plodded on not even considering what could have happened!

Never!  I could never see the point of riding a machine with just two wheels and no steel protective shield, when I could have a vehicle with four wheels and a steel cage around me!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;)

started riding in oct. 1975, on my 16th birthday. got caught riding a Norton 750 commando in Aug. 76,had a very big accident in october 76. got back on a bike in 1980. Had a gap from 83 until the late nineties while bringing  up kids.
when I started riding again (gpz750) mrs Bitz realised that I hadnt actually bothered to take a test, so did what wives do and nagged me into being a grown up responsible person , so finally took my test about 10 years ago.

most litre bikes are around 175 bhp and weigh around 175 kg.
an omega would need to be putting out around 1650 bhp to match the power/weight ratio. nuff said. :y
even my little 100bhp 600 does 0-60 in 3.6 and 162mph flat out. :)
