I used to work for Securicor. At first glance the uniform was very similar to Plod. My car was a white Carlton.  Pain in the ar$e driving to and from work.  If the driver in front noticed the car and the dark blue uniform, it was a case of 1mph below the speed limit for the rest of the journey.
Surprising how often a left hand would be seen fumbling around between the drivers right shoulder and the door pillar in search of the seat belt.  ;D

Memories of a standard drive to or from work...   ;D

Jerry - please dont leave for the sake of a bit of banter.  All thats asked, very obliquely, is to consider how you drive and how others perceive it.

On this forum, in common with many another, as soon as 'the police' make even the slightest error of judgement its the source of great consternation and immediate diatribe and every cop in the country is blamed....

Its only fair, I think, that sometimes the opposing view is sometimes considered.

Are Albion and the net comparative strangers then??   ;)

Personally I think you were lucky to get off..
I was sat doing 90 on the motorway on a Sunday morning at around 8am, this newish BMW came up quite quickly and I had the same thought myself, "wonder how ode Vader would do against this?" but thought well I am doing 90 anyway let him come past, so I moved over. As they got to my side I saw two Coppers sitting in this BMW, and fair play to them they never looked at me or batted an eye. I did think I am glad I didn't  ;D

Had to laugh when I got pulled up on my CB100N, the Copper said, "Lost your Wings Squadron Leader?" I nearly laughed but held it in.... I have found most Coppers are fair :y

Hotel,
Dont get me wrong mate , I'm not afraid of a bit of banter-you should hear what were all like at work, "thick skin" should be a pre-requisite!!I'm not offended, I was just taking the mick out of myself. Sorry if it sounded like I was taking my trainset away, wasnt meant at all like that really but I am genuinely pretty excited that albion are on motd and managed to score 3 goals!!!

No doubt that it was because I was doing 80 instead of 70 that they chose to follow me but I still think its a pretty intimidating tactic to see if youll then further break the limit. As an afternote, whilst the mig was off the road having the oil cooler fixed recently I borrowed the wifes toyota emina bus. Same stretch of road, in the right hand lane coming up to the roundabout to turn right and sticking religiously to 70(!!). Anyhow this car comes roaring up behind me and starts flashing me. Not wanting to be caught again (a tad unlikely in the bus i admit), I continue at 70. If hes in that much of a hurry then there was plenty of room/time to undertake me before the roundabout as there is no other traffic about. Anyway, he flashes me again and I check to see if there are any warning lights on etc, nope, and its only when he flashes me for the third time that he puts his blue lights on . Great, unmarked car, he must be on a shout I think as I change lanes to let him past. Just as I pull back into the right lane to be in the right lane to turn at the roundabout this vectra comes storming up to me, undertaking me ,then turning right down the same single carriageway. Must be another cop car I think. About 1/4 mile down the single carriageway there is the vectra pulled over by the unmarked traffic car!Go figure! :-/.

Re-read the highway code.  Something like return to the left lane after overtaking.  You say that there was ample space for the police to undertake.  Ergo, ample space for you to get into the correct lane to proceede sfaley...
Sorry, one of my pet hates.  Lane hoggers in the wrong lane wanting to run right on the roundabout at the end of a dual several lightyears ahead of them.....

My pet hate is coppers who break the law just like the rest of us from time to tim but sit there on their high horse with the safety spiel. Its so pathetic its laughable. I personally know of a copper who drives like an absolute idiot in his own car but as soon as he puts his uniform on and gets in the plod car he is the safest, hardest, upstanding copper in the world.

I dont get angry with coppers anymore , i just laugh at em.
i got pulled over last year for dricing too slow. I was doing 26mph as it was a bit foggy and the roads were like glass. Copper gets out and says hes going to do me for driving too slowlt. I nearyl choked with laughter. In the end he got his hair off and told me to move on.

I just laughed and pulled away.

I think part of the training in police camp must be how to pretend your a saint!

Coppers , i wouldnt piss on one if he was on fire!!

Just because you know one cop who is a k-nob, dont class them all the same.

Personally, have had my share of pathetic plumbers, junkie joiners, sad salesmen, ersehole engineers, bullshitting builders - got your trade yet, or you get the gist?

I'm no saint.  Enjoy life too much, but have the knowledge to seperate the wheat from the dross.....   ;)
