I have to ask, where is the 4.4 engine coming from as these were only ever in production in oz unless its a 3.5 with a stroker kit fitted!
For info
4.0 (its actualy a 3.95 litre engine and the same capacity as the earlier 3.9 units) - 190 Bhp - 320Nm torque
4.6 - 225 Bhp - 380Nm torque.
i have to laugh, i can get both more power and torque out of my 2.4t after remapping and have nearly the same power as standard
Yes but, you will get a peeky horrible over blown delivery of power as a result.....the V8 would beat it in the same chassis with ease.
Remember also that the figure is that as delivered from the factory with no mods
it's actually quite a good power delivery, the turbo comes in at 1800 revs so is there from about the revs you setoff on to when you change gear and fades towards 4000 revs
plus its 5 cylinders so really quite smooth!
the volvos 200bhp and 285nm as standard
Makes no odds....wind up a turbo and you compress the torque delivery curve.....
Further to this, below the point where the turbo spins you get little go, this is for two reasons
1) A restricted inlet setup due to the addition of a turbo, intercooler and miles of pipes
2) Lower compression ratio.
A car with the V8 lump would be way ahead and probably slipping int second before your boost had even arrived!
Physics mate.....its a bugger!
