Indeed. And the early S types were apparently produced before Jag convinced Ford that you cannot sell a car with Lincoln suspension in the UK without getting laughed at. ;)

Ah, so they come fitted with a ship's wheel, rather than a steering wheel? ;)

Yep, this is the interior of an early model.

Well I've gone and done the deed tonight - gone and bought a low mileage 2004 Jaguar XJ Series 3.0 auto XJ6 SE with full service records.  Still got both the Elite saloon and Estate.  I will be selling the saloon in due course - details will be on OOF soon.

Also likely the Estate will come up for sale in the not too distant future.

Will miss the Elites though  :(

I had to go down the 7 seater route otherwise my omega would be staying with the family! BMW diesel engine has been brilliant.

Glad you steered clear of mercedes - very overrated....

Had an E230 as a company car a few years back - tend to agree with you - it certainly wasn't memorable !!
Had a couple of Jags many years back - both were memorable - a 60s 3.8S saloon and an E-Type with the 3.8 motor - particularly wish I still owned the second one!!

My main concern if I move from the Omega is the space within the drivers area.

As mentioned, jags tend to be a comfortable fit I have had a in what was a new Skoada favrit 3 years ago, but found it to be tight, and my ankles hurt after 20 iles just getting used to the different pedal postions.

Would be interestiong to find out which hads the bigger cabin space between a Chrysler 300c, and Audi A4/6/8, as modt of you know I am not a FWD fan so the next car I do actually fancy a 4WD
