I have no desire to get back in touch with people I knew from school.

:-X Me neither!.......well, with the exception of Helen Highwater; and that`d only be to poke fun at her name (again!)! ;D

i understand. a request from my senoir school headmaster would be most unwelcome.

Hang on.. gay vegetables now? ???
You would not believe the lively, in depth, long debates we used to have in making up the list of gay vegetables and manly vegetables.  Needless to say, we had bugger all work on about 8yrs ago ;D

Sadly, the guy who maintained the list is no more, so out of dignity, the list remains frozen.

Marrow is defo on the gay column. Roast tatties is on the manly column.

Agreed, I am at a loss as to why anyone would wish to expose all their personal activities with everyone else

Its not with everyone else though is it? You only share it with people who you want to share it with.

Example:

I went to Dublin at the weekend, going to share photos taken with my friends I known since school, old work Buddies from my last job, MrsT's sister's & friends ect.

Really simple way to share photos with people I want to.

Its like TV, I choose not to watch shite like Eastenders, Strictly, Little Brother, Football ect. I watch shows I want to, I share things with people I want to.

I've never, ever, or plan to play a game on facebook. Its a tool & its used as such.

It is not supposed to be, but remember this software is written by humans, and here is a classic example of the biter being bit! http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2011/12/facebook-fixes-security-glitch-after-mark-zuckerbergs-photos-leaked.html
I am also concerned at the eagerness with which youngsters share their most outrageous pranks, on a medium from which it will be - almost - impossible to remove, thus potentially casting a shadow over future job prospects.
Yes I admit to being cynical, but basically I don't trust these sites which will  inevitably attract undesirable elements be they scamsters, evil-doers, or just hard nosed salesmen.

Facebook is a truly wonderful invention and should not be "dissed" in any way, in fact all teenagers of reduced intelligence and possessing no morals should be encouraged to use it ......  :y :y :y

:)

Yet another scrote was "sent down" yesterday after the jury were helped in their decision by evidence of his "boasting" to his mates on FB.....  let's hope they never learn how easy it is to retrieve such information  :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

Include me in with regard to that sentiment Shack. :y

In relation to the remainder of your piece I must say that I agree with you - even though, as Entwood points out, how handy such sites can be given the tendency for droogs and such like to burble away on them to the point of self-incrimination.
