on a more sensible note, use a set of jump leads, connect black to chassis, red to + on starter solenoid (not motor) and hook the other ends up to a battery, will give the car power to unlock.

providing you have another jack of some sort to gain access to the starter from underneath.

Thanks, that is another great tip Vauxfan which I will try, with hopefully a lovely AA man doing all the graft for once! :D :D ;)

Well I'm feeling a little stupid now!! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

The AA man was with with within 25 minutes, and within three minutes he had the door open, the battery on booster, with the engine started!!!

Although the buttons of the locks had not risen from the "locked" position, making me think the car was still locked, in fact when I had broken the key yesterday in the lock I had in actual fact unlocked the system.  I had just not tried to lift the door handle! ::) ::) ::) ::)

So of course, the AA man just lifted the door handle, went in to release the bonnet catch and in the blink of an eye the booster was on with the engine started. :D :D :D :D :D :D

I really didn't believe, and still don't, how all the buttons were down but the door could be opened!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Oh well, something learn't, and I got the kind AA man to remove the boot light bulb so if the boot is accidently left open the battery cannot be drained. ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for all your help though guys!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* ;)

Can imagine the embarrasment!

May explain braking the key, trying to open an already open lock!

Best put this one down to experience, and well done for owning up  ;D
