Zoom Miggy Dead!!
« on: 08 December 2008, 12:20:01 »

Can you help please with a very simple (I hope!) problem.

This morning, after not using my car for two days, I clicked on my key fob.........nothing.........then I tried my second fob........once more nothing, no flashing lights and no reaction from the car locks.  Everything dead! :o :o :o

I suspect my car battery has failed, so now I have to get into the car manually, which is where I need your help please........

tried to turn the key in the lock, and I just cannot turn it hard enough to action the lock!   Then I had second thoughts, when looking at the drivers door should I turn the key to the left (anti-clockwise) or to the right (clockwise)? :-? :-?

Never had to use the key manually before, so I am feeling fairly stupid not knowing which way it turns, although I know from other posts that the lock can be very stiff (?)   Indeed how much pressure can I safely put on the key, before it snaps?? :o :o :o :o!!! :-? :-?

Many thanks! ;)

depending on the state of the battery, the parking light could flatten it.

If you switch off the ignition, with the indicator to the left or right, it will turn on the parking light. Mother tunnie does it all the time  >:(

I thought that later face lift cars had the parking ligt wired via the lights-on-buzzer ....  :-/

My 73 Cortina had parking lights opperated via the indictor stalk :y

The only good thing is I now know it is not the battery........my boot lid was open and has been for two days!  No wonder the battery is flat! ::) ::) ::)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr that bloody boot button on the facelift fob!! >:( >:(

Oh well - look on the bright side! At least you'll be able to crawl througn to the front of the car & pop the bonnet.  ;)  :y  :y  :y

As I've said before, despite the theory .... there was no way my car was going to allow me to unlock it when my batter was that flat.

Shi!!!

Never seen one break - and suffered plenty of flat batts myself!

I guess the fact I occasionally use the key in the door when I'm doing servicing helps keep my mechanism nice and free  :-/

The trouble is Andy and Danny the car is in the garage, hard up against the rear wall in "Park", with the boot lid unable to rise high enough for anyone but a child to crawl through!!    The word I have used frequently today is.......bugger!!!! >:( >:( >:( ;)

Bugger!!!  :(

What about ....... a couple of trolly jacks under the rear of the sills to lift the rear wheels of the floor and wheel the whole lot forward a foot or two?  :-/ :-/

See! That's what happens when you use your garage for putting your car in ..... most of the rest of us use them for storing sh1te in!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D :y :y
