It may not be an offensive but its still not at all nice to be called a foreigner and i hate the word  and i should'nt be made to deal with it and i would not go up to any one and call them a foreigner to there face i have respect for people as i use to have students that i use have and i never ever called them foreigners to there faces as its not a nice word to use!

Thanks for the info.. :y

Here in my country the word "foreign" is very commonly used ..And even in official language and govt papers..

Also we use matching word "yabanc[ch305]" (same meaning) but never thought this will hurt people ..And I use the same for my wife even she has Turkish citizenship as second ..

Must be culture difference :-/

THe term for someone from a different country is foreigner and is a statement not an insult.

I am foreign to a French person and they are foreign to me - no issue no worry just means a different country.

Exactly why a thing such as this exists...

Lets live and let live.....   :-/

I do know martin but i just dont like to be called one or even call any one to there face so i am not saying an other word on the matter thats my rant over with!

You're not foreign you are Welsh & British - a different class - within GB you are not foreign - only foreign when you are abroad.

I am BTW just British

I have slightly upset the Irish before in a nice way - saying they are not really foreigners - they speak same language, watch same TV, almost the same culture.
for the record martin (and definitely not wanting to start another argument)-northern ireland=u.k.-not foreign.republic of ireland-independant state-so therefore a foreign country.  :y

Not very though

I can remember a time (70`s?) when the British national Tv. weather forecast didn`t even show the Republic of Ireland on the map: just the 6 counties of N.I as a little 'island' on it`s own.......if that was 'political' I can only guess, but an example of attitudes at the time! :-/

:P BTW: Has anyone yet noticed; I`m 'Foreign'? ;D

Thought you were originally British
