I'm with TB on this...

If it were a smoking in pubs/restaurants where freshly prepared food is involved, then fine I wouldn't have an issue with that... Restaurants would be smoke free and pubs could choose between being propper boozers or no smoking gastro pubs (or whatever the term is nowadays).

But no, that would be too easy, so they made it a Health and Safety issue instead. This means that if I were driving my own van every day, I wouldn't be allowed to smoke in it, even if it only had a drivers seat in it. I don't smoke, but resent the fact that I am effectively banned from having free choice >:(
I think the ban in enclosed places is to protect staff as well.
Yup under the guise of Health and safety in the workplace...

If you're anti smoking, don't work in a smoking environment... I'm just a stoopid taxi driver, and even I know that ::)

Well, if you applied to work at a pub/bookies etc, you know what you're letting yourself in for.  You worked for British Telecom? If you became a linesman, would you refuse to climb poles on safety grounds?
You're being silly now. Linesmen are employed to climb poles, bar staff are not employed to smoke.

And, before you come back with a smart-arsed answer, I'm going...bye.. ;D

if I will be forced to breath it too.
But you're not (unless the missus ties you up and smokes on you ;D)

Demand is high enough for non smoking areas in pubs, clubs and restuarants. If an establishment does not offer such and area, plenty more will want your custom :)

wtf are you on about.
When Labour banned indoor smoking in public places, they did say they wanted to ban drinking next. BRAKE are so far up the governments arse, its now almost socially unacceptable to drive a fossil fuelled car, let alone drive at a speed approaching the speed limit. 2 strokes have already been banned.

Just because you don't like smoking isn't a reason to ban it.  In the same way, just because some knob doesn't like drinking/driving/outrageously powerful bikes, that's no reason to ban those...

Are you being argumentative?

I see TB is in "one if those moods" again ;D
Not really, but I do get uptight when people are prevented from doing things they enjoy, and it has little impact on others (who are not forced to stand next to them).

I have too many vices that the do-gooders want to ban. Smoking is just the start.
hear hear to many do gooders about telling you what to do >:( >:(

So, are we talking about passive smoking from e-cigs now?

Oh, please! ::)
