On Friday night there was one tent with music and one tent without.
I would think that those that wanted some music went to one tent and those that wanted a quiet drink and a chat the other.

those tents was put together in the end to make 1 big tent

On Saturday if I arent mistaken

This is a tricky one. I feel somewhat to blame as i crusaded this meet, almost begging you all to turn up which you did, i understand the time & expense this involves for all of you. Ian & I both feel that this meet was fragmenteted in the evenings which honestly was unintentional, no one wanted this, we all were hoping to sit around together & eat & drink but somehow groups were formed. On friday night we all sat outside till 1am & did'nt go in the music tent. I don't know who was in there or who was playing the music but it did'nt bother me. We also got booted off the airfield lastnight!!! I also spent a pretty penny on curry & chilli. I admit this meet did'nt turn out as planned, maybe we bit off more than we could chew. After the quiz some folk left & others turned thier chairs together, i saw alot of backs of heads of folk i'd have liked to have a drink & a laugh with, the same folk who made me welcome as a newbie at the first Lakesmeet & who have remained friends since & i hope will continue to do so.
To sum up, i can see this could have gone better & i apologise to anyone who feels they were left out or wasted thier time/money. We really enjoyed the first Yorkmeet which is why we wanted everyone else to attend & enjoy it. I still think this has the potential to be a cracking meet, perhaps a little more feedback to members beforehand would help. We did our best & meant well.

We'll take all your comments into consideration before the next one & see if we can iron out any problems.

Is that why you don't go to the meets? Don't think you could contain yourself?  ;D

As I said Guy I wasn't there but I have been to lots of large gatherings!

You are certainly not to blame... People are people and will naturally gather into more manageable groups. It's very difficult to talk to 30 people at the same time :y :y :y

As for organising... I'm trying to sort out the East Anglian Meet (as you know) and I'm planning to try and get us a little more organised with regards to the food as last year we all took enough food for ourselves and several others!

As an ex (very active) member of the New MINI community, and having organised events for owners of the MINIs, I feel that meetings only work if everyone is interested in meeting and socialising with everyone else......

As soon as you get people keeping themselves to themselves or expecting people to come over and say hello then divisions appear.

The aim of a meet is to MEET people and the only way of doing that is by getting out of your tent and going around and saying hello.

Do it that way and very quickly you will know everybody......
