The rear of the canvas roof on the Boxster has come away from the frame.
From the factory its apparently held in place with VHB (very high bond) double sided tape.
I have purchased a roll of this tape and am about to attempt to fix the problem.
I dont feel particularly confident though.
I tried contact adhesive last week and it only held for a couple of days until the tension overcame it.
There doesnt seem to be space to rivet it, which is a pity as I would have liked to put a few rivets in as well as the VHB tape.
We shall see.   ::)

Well, Ive done the job. Just need to see if it lasts now. *

* Lasts long enough to be something for a new owner to deal with next time.  ::)

It seems to have stuck very well, so hopefully it will stay that way for the foreseeable.  :y

Finally got off my arse and started looking for a new (different) car. Going to see a V70 on Saturday.

I took a test drive in  a derv Audi on a 14 plate as  something that 'could possibly' replace the mighty Signum as a general dog-snotter car for everyday use.

Mileage was roughly 75% of the distance from the Earth to the moon but it drove OK. Manual gearbox, too. :)

Perhaps I need help. :)

Finally got the time to investigate the non working rear seats on TPC.

WIS suggested that the motors required running to the end of their travel in order to 'normalise' the hall (position) sensors. It also suggested using the switches to do this. Good idea if they were responding  ::)

Next best was to unplug the seat ECU* and jump power to the motors and run them to the stops in both directions. Did the headrests first as their not being locked in is a genuine safety issue. That worked so did the same for the other three motors on each seat.

Then plugged in a fresh ECU and hey presto the seats function as expected.

Last thing to do tomorrow will be wire in the plugs for the multi contour system and that will be that job well and truly jobbed.

* The plug the feeds the motors fell out when I went to unplug it... Not saying that this was the culprit all along, but it now works where as before it didn't  :-[

Nice. Assuming it's a diesel, the 2.4 D5 is the one to go for.  :y

Don't need anything as powerful as that, Tigger. 2.0 D3 SE. 2014 with 140,000 miles on it, FSH, New MOT.

And manual, wouldn't trust an auto box with that many miles on it.

Power isn't the only concern. My brother had a 2.0 Volvo diesel of about that era and it was a dog. Kept diluting its own oil and eventually did the decent thing and committed harakiri by the side of the road in a big cloud of smoke, at about 70K miles IIRC.

Name me any car make or model and I'll find you a tale of woe. I stand to lose virtually no money at all here  ;D

My old 2004 V70 had 195,000 miles on the clock when I sold it and the auto box was fine.  :y

Change of plan. He's got a grandland there that looks more suited to my needs. It's a car I'm familiar with and, with only 50,000 miles on it, looks a safer bet.
I'm going up Saturday morning and, as he has a few cars that would do me, I've got time to change my mind at least another three times before then  ;D
