The soft plastic on the inside of the front door handles has become gooey and sticky, a bit like plasticine.  I scraped it all out on the drivers door handle and scrubbed the residue out with some solvent which has improved it, but then it started raining so I'll attack the passenger door handle another time.  :)

I'm pondering buying these to replace them altogether, but not sure of the colour match.  :-\
Oh how I hate that soft touch finish.  My car is laden with it, and just when I think I've completely removed it, I find another button somewhere, grrrr.  This weekend, I noted it was the back of the cruise cancel button I'd missed.

My tools of choice are IPA and a microfibre, with cotton buds to get in the corners - obviously with buttons you have to be less harsh than handles, else you scrap off the black coating as well, leaving a white button.

What's IPA TB?  ???

Not Indian Pale Ale obviously, unless you enjoy a little tipple whilst scrubbing soft touch crap off your car?  ;D
As others have said, its rubbing alcohol. Go from stronger stuff of at least 99%.

There are lots of supposed shortcuts, such as specific make-up wipes but none of these work - I guess we have safer wipes here in blighty.

I found nail varnish remover ineffective, but was probably the shit Boots sell.  I think it lacks acetone, so is hopeless at releasing me from the desk when I have the superglue out.

Thanks TB. The nail polish remover was OK, but I might try the IPA instead.  I've got a bottle of solvent UPVC cleaner lurking about somewhere as well, so I'll hunt for that and see how that goes first as I'm nearly out of the nail polish remover.  :y

Spent the last hour or two giving the little C1 a general going over.
Removed the wheels and checked discs / pads / shoes. They will all need replacing around the end of this year, as will the rear tyres.
Brushed off all the accumulated mud and shite from underneath the arches etc. while I was there.
Also checked for any rust and didnt find any.
Got a few jobs to do on sons Civic soon, then will be able to concentrate on all the little things I want to do to the Omega, which are mainly cosmetic stuff.

Gave the Austin Omega a rub down with a damp cloth, vacuumed the carpet and cleaned the interior panels with furniture polish. Still waiting on the useless idiots to post the new wiper motor---------
