*it was only a cordless one this time, but I was mega impressed with its performance.  Impressed enough I considered buying one, but not worth it for the very limited use I have for one. It was a 12V Milwaukee one I borrowed from chrisgixer. 

I used to have a Makita 36v chainsaw and found it to be very good, nowhere near the oomph of a petrol Stihl, but TBH that's not really required 99% of the time. I sold mine as no possible use case in our new place but I'd recommend them without question.

For most people, you could have the battery one out, used, cleaned and put away again before you'd mixed up some 2 stroke and tried to figure out why the petrol one wont start.

They are so good that they’ve pretty much made the other tools redundant. I would be the first to slag off battery powered tools in the past but these are awesome, and the battery lasts for ages as well. 

Yup, I was the same, but the modern branded stuff is superb.  The remaining exception seems to be lawnmowers.  I guess as they cant yet make  a decent electric mower, a cordless one is still years off.

I wasn't expecting much of this 12V Milwaukee, even knowing how good Milwaukee M12 stuff has got.  But I was very pleasantly surprised. And its only 12V, I mean how can it be that good?

Wouldn't do a big tree, but branches up to 6" it flew through.

Top five 'go to' tools that no man should be without.

1. 2 stroke chainsaw.
2. Angle grinder.
3. Mole Grips.
4. Cordless drill
5. 10mm spanner that seems to fit 90% of nuts I come across.

She does have a point. You can't even look at a tree without maiming yourself, let alone cut lumps off it with a dangerous thing like a chainsaw.

Mind you, if she saw what damage an angle grinder can do when the blade disintegrates, or the blade strikes you, she'll be taking that off you as well. Strange how we push our luck at times, but a simple accident involving no tools very nearly cost you an eye.

I worked with a fella who had a horrible scar from his sternum, up his chest, neck and the side of his face/head, where a 9" angle grinder kicked back and caught his t-shirt.

As French Albitz says....it's not that uncommon for blades to break into pieces and fly off.

Wire strippers also come in handy.....and probably safe enough for a certain OOF member to use unsupervised.

I need to do some welding on my Omega and also a bit on my Sons Civic.
She is determined it isnt going to happen.
" You are not doing that here. You will weld yourself to the car, or burn the house down, or blind a passer by....
Im too old for the stress of it now, and your too old to be doing stuff like that now".
They get excited about things, bless them.
