is there no way at all to do passenger side WITHOUT taking battery out guys?
otherwise the bloody alarm goes off  ;D

See above - i did mine without taking battery out.
BUT if u loosen battery clamp without disconnecting terminals battery can be slid back a bit.

WAYNE , THE DRIVERS SIDE ARE EASY TO DO BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE IS SLIGHTY HARDER.[BATTERY] I REMOVED THE TWO SCREWS ON TOP OF THE HEADLIGHT AND ONE FROM BELOW AND PULLED THE HEADLIGHT OUT AND CHANGED THE BULBS THAT WAY    15 min job.you will need a 10mm 1/4 drive socket and long exetension bar to get to the bottom screw,  and to remove the trim below the headlight a cross head screwdriver.

Technically speaking .... :(

If you do this you SHOULD have the headlight alignement rechecked using the correct equipment as you have disturbed the fittings ...  :(

Needs somewhere with beam - setting equipment - if your local garage does MOT's it must have that !!

There is no need to have the beam re adjusted as your not moving the adjusters, but your taking the compleat unit out. I have removed mine many times and the beam is spot on and has just passed an mot.[ Yes the beams were checked as i was standing next to the tester doing it]

Your choice ... but as the Omega owners manual actually advises headlamp alignement check just for changing a bulb ( OTT IMHO), methinks the removal and replacement of the whole unit is a tad more extreme... unless of course you can gaurantee you have put it back in EXACTLY the same place with EXACTLY the same torque on all the screws   ..  :)

As I said ... should be checked .. not MUST be checked.. and at the end of the day .. your decision  :)

Haynes book of lies tells you to do loads of stuff which is compleat tosh, what has the torque on the screws got to do with headlight adjustment, over tighten the screws and the most you will do is split the plastic bracket. If you have to mark the bracket pos with a pencil thats fine but not needed.

Wayne, excellent choice on the bulbs. I have the 80% main beams in one of ours, superb LONG vision and nice and clear. The sidelights smarten up the look and are whiter but.....the dipped beam H1's, I have a set in the garage you could have had. Not completely impressed, didn't see a fantatsic improvement though they are apparently the best you can buy. See the other lighting threads for my reasons why.

You shouldn't have many problems changing bulbs, having delicate musicians hands and all  ;) DO NOT touch the bulb glass obviously, I use rubber surgeons gloves for such jobs  :y Ooo errr missus.

As said, passenger side is the worst but slide battery back an inch in its tray if really stuck. Don't force any fittings too much.

P.S. your car looks spanky  8-)

Hi DavLad

glad to know i made the right choice in bulbs!
cant wait to fit em now  :)
the ones that you said "you werent impressed with"
i wonder IF i can phone the company whose supplying them and choose something else?
did you really see NO difference with them?
as far as the main beam goes, would you say they are much more powerful than the standard bulbs in your Omega?
i should hope so at £32.99 a pair!  :y

have you replaced any other bulbs in your car for a major improvement matey?

Hiya buddy,

Yeah, i've dealt with that company before, really friendly, fast service and as with any product these days, if it's unopened, sure it'll be fine to exchange. They put a disclaimer in the box 'please check correct fitment before opening' so presumably that means they're ok to return.

I'm not saying the H1 'vision plus' are crap, just that I personally didn't notice as much improvement as I was expecting, after all, they are supposed to be about the best H1 bulbs you can buy  :-/ I didn't like the way they caused LOADS of glare for other drivers . Choosing Philips however, they should last a decent amount of time and I think they are guaranteed for a while also. I'm not sure what else you could try though, I haven't tried, but hear very good reports on the 'Osram Silverstar'. Either way, i'd probably keep the others as spares or as a comparison.

The 80% ones worked a treat for me and should do for you also. They aren't the whitest light around but their distance and vision of the road is an absolute beauty! Another guy on one of the other threads was very pleased with his experiences also.

The amount of bulbs/combinations I have tried is ridiculous. I dread to think how much money spent on bulbs over the years, a bit sad like(!), but we do alot of night driving, approx 60%, so good vision is a high priority, is also less tiresome with good lights, less strain on the eyes  8-)

I also use an Astra which has PIAA bulbs which are superb, very bright, white, the only thing is the quality control isn't that great and some require adjustment etc. Now, on the Omega, we've got a HID kit fitted and this just creams the lot  ;) Have to say though I have learned, you do get what you pay for with bulbs  :y

i have completely messed my lights up
have replaced the dipped beam bulbs no problem
CANNOT even get my hand down to remove main beam bulbs
and now where i have tried to wiggle the bulbs free, all my headlight fixtures are shot and wonky
i just need them to be put back in place AFTER i have replaced the main beam bulbs and also changed the little side light bulbs
WHY the hell are Omegas such a complete pain in the ass to do a simple task?
theres never any space to get your hands down anywhere without having to take a billion screws out!
or is it because Vauxhall want you to spend an hours labour on a bloody bulb change
i was told that Volkswagon charge £50 for headlight bulb changes!!!

my car is also stinking of burning again
i only done 61800 miles in my car, and about 5000 in 6 years!
the things hardly been used!
